Interim Arrangements The first meeting of the Borough Association was held on 15th May 2007. At this meeting the roles to be elected was outlined and interest in filling these roles canvassed. For the period between the 15th May and the election of the committee, the partnership Neighbourhood Watch steering group will fulfil the role of the committee in terms of conducting the election and dealing with other issues such as registering the association as a charity. As well as this the steering group will arrange for any training required for the elected committee members, as well as arranging good practice visits to other Borough Associations. Electoral process Attendees of the meeting on 15th May (scheme co-ordinators or their representatives) were asked to nominate themselves for positions on the Executive Committee. These nominations were requested to be submitted in writing (either by post or e-mail) with a short supporting statement from the individual, outlining what skills they will be able to bring to the post. The deadline of Friday 15th June 2007 for nominations has been set. The nominations will be collated by the police and sent out to scheme co-ordinators for voting. Each registered scheme will receive one vote for each of the four posts on the committee. Our intention is to send out the voting information to schemes by 22nd June and set a deadline for votes of 20th July 2007. The vote will be by postal ballot, for which we will provide postage paid envelopes. We will then notify all scheme co-ordinators of the results of the election and arrange the first AGM for September/October 2007.
